Getting Started

  1. Install TapVoice on your iPhone from the App Store. The Apple Watch app will install automatically.
  2. Open the iPhone app and complete the short onboarding (language is detected automatically).
  3. Open the Apple Watch app and choose your audio mode: Full Audio (answers play through your Watch speaker) or Silent (text only).
  4. Allow microphone access on the Watch when prompted. iPhone does not need microphone permission — all recording happens on the Watch.
  5. Tap and hold the TapVoice button on your Watch, ask your question, and release. The answer appears within 5–7 seconds.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Apple Watch ask for microphone permission, but my iPhone does not?

All voice recording happens on the Watch — that's where the microphone is used. The iPhone acts only as a bridge to the AI services, so it doesn't need microphone access.

How do question packs work?

Each pack is a one-time purchase that adds a fixed number of questions to your balance (25, 100, or 300). There is no subscription and no auto-renewal. Your balance does not expire as long as the app is installed.

What happens when I run out of questions?

You'll see a prompt to buy a new question pack. Your conversation history and settings are preserved — you can keep using the app's interface, but voice questions require a positive balance.

Why are answers so short?

TapVoice is tuned to give brief, conversational answers (typically 2 sentences) — perfect for the Watch screen and quick listening. This also keeps response time under 7 seconds.

How do I switch between Silent Mode and Full Audio?

Open the TapVoice app on your Apple Watch, go to Settings, and choose your preferred audio mode. The change takes effect immediately and syncs to your iPhone.

How do I get better-sounding voices?

TapVoice uses OpenAI's premium "alloy" voice for all answers — there is nothing extra to download. If you also want higher-quality system voices for other apps, you can download Enhanced voices in the iPhone Watch app under My Watch → Accessibility → Spoken Content → Voices.

How do I change the response language?

In the iPhone TapVoice app, go to Settings → Language and pick from 9 supported languages: English, Finnish, Swedish, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, and Dutch. The setting syncs to your Watch automatically.

I didn't hear the answer — what's wrong?

Check the following: (1) your Apple Watch is in Full Audio mode, not Silent, (2) your Watch volume is up, (3) your Watch is not muted, (4) your Watch model supports speaker playback, and (5) Bluetooth headphones (if connected) are paired correctly.

Does TapVoice store my data?

Conversation history is stored only on your device. Voice recordings are sent to Google Gemini for transcription and discarded after the answer is returned. We do not operate any servers that store your personal content. See our Privacy Policy for details.

How do I request a refund?

All purchases are processed by Apple. Request a refund through Apple's official process at reportaproblem.apple.com. We do not have access to your payment details.
